Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson and Jennifer Lawrence are now the leading stars of a film trilogy based on a book series with a cult-like following … sound familiar? I think we’re looking at the next Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart!
As sad as it makes us, the Twilight films are rapidly coming to a close — but luckily the void Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart leave in our hearts when the second Breaking Dawn movie comes out will now be filled by The Hunger Games cast. HollywoodLifers, we present to you Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson and Jennifer Lawrence – aka your next favorite love triangle!
Although The Hunger Games is considered sci-fi and the Twilight series is definitely fantasy, we can’t help but compare the two. In The Hunger Games, Jennifer will play Katniss, who is conflicted by her feelings for both Gale (Liam) and Peeta (Josh), much like Kristen’s Bella loves both Edward (Robert) and Jacob (Taylor) … but in different ways.
Plus, from a business stand point, The Hunger Games are going to be epic in a way only the Twilight franchise can compare. We foresee dolls, clothes, popular soundtracks and much, much more!
How do YOU feel about Liam and Josh being cast as Peeta and Gale? Do YOU think they were right for the roles? Sound off below!

I was a Twilight fan myself but I have never gotten “this” excited about a movie at all until “The Hunger Games” were going to be a movie. I think “The Hunger Games” has a better plot line than “Twilight” I definitely think “The Hunger Games” will be bigger than “Twilight” just not viewed as a love triangle.
*P.s. My heart belongs to Peeta. <3 You Josh!!*

I just found this site and I’m severely disappointed. Did the author bother to read THG or just a synopsis with some movie stills? There’s a plot and actual fleshed out characters in these books, they’re clearly nothing like Twilight. Why is that people feel the need to compare everything to that pukefest?

yes. I agree with you so much, Angela. People should stop comparing it to twilight, right? Another story with a love triangle doesn’t mean it should be compared to twilight.

well it can be bigger than twilight, you know at least jennifer can act, just saying, plus whatever i think liam is way hotter than pattinson. this story has an plot and developtment aside from twilight who honestly you can really tell most of the actors dont have acting skills (unless you are a blinded hardcore fangirl):P

What do you mean it’s going to be as big as Twilight? It will and should be BIGGER than Twilight at the least.

Honestly, this is completely double-sided. On one hand, The Hunger Games (The book) actually has a plotline, characters who do more than just bite their lips, and stupid teen romance is not the central theme. However, Lionsgate is completely setting it up to be another version of Twilight. By deleting the Violent sub-plots of the original book, changing the viewings of the characters, and pumping it up to have tons of sequels and prequels, they’re counting on the new movie series (and there will be one) to become the next huge movie franchise. The whole thing has stopped being about the characters and the incredibly powerful storyline, and more about making tons of money, and changing the storyline to reach a more ‘mature’ audience. The entire point of the book was that children were being forced to kill each other, not that 20-somethings compete in a game show with a bit of dirt here and there. It’s totally gonna be the next Twilight.

HELL TO THE NO. i wish people would stop trying to compare every damn thing to twilight. twilight is nothing more than romance and angst. the hunger games actually has a plot and a storyline.

I have to disagree entirely, Hunger Games is on an entirely different level from Twilight. Twilight is a romance novel series, simple as that. Hunger Games is a dystopian view on a plausible outcome for the future of the United States and North America as a whole, also ‘love triangle’, it’s minute to put it bluntly. Please stop perpetuating a myth of comparison between the two franchises, the only things they have in common is they’re both based on Y.A. novels, their main protagonist is a teenage girl, and there are two guys who have her attention, but romance, I repeat ROMANCE is not the central focus of the series.

The Hunger Games characters are so completely different from Twilight. The ENTIRE story is different. Twilight deals with vampires and wolves and unreal love stories whereas The Hunger Games has relationships that could happen everyday. And of course, there’s no comparison: Rob Pattison is hotter, but Josh Hutcherson isn’t suppose to be a God in the Hunger Games. He’s suppose to be a normal looking baker boy. And that’s exactly what he looks like in real life….Sorry, Josh. I look forward to falling in love with him as Peeta. I think he’ll do a great job.

Liam definitely has the hotness factor. Josh… not so much. He seems like a genuinely sweet guy and I really want to like him, but in interviews he tends to come across as desperately eager to please. This is not a trait that I want to see reflected in Peeta, who manages to pull off unrequited love without looking pathetic.

Hell to the no. The love triangle, if it can be called one, is not a large part of the books at all. I wish media outlets like you would stop trying to make it out to be that way.

josh should be gale and liam should be peeta they got it mixed up peeta is supposed to be big and strong with blonde hair and gale is supposed to have dark hair

Liam does have dark hair. Don’t forget, Gale is two years older than Peeta, he’s SUPPOSED to be bigger and stronger than him.

It’s SO pathetic how this site throws in RPattz’s name into every story – or creates stories to throw in his name – just for traffic. If you think your readers are too stupid to realize this, then actually you’re the stupid ones. Losing me.

If by “Next Twilight” you mean the next big franchise, yes, I can see it becoming insanely popular. The books already have a solid fanbase.
I’m gonna reserve judgment on Josh and Liam’s acting skills until I see the trailer or movie stills. But I can say that a majority of the fanbase did not consider either actors to be their first choices to play Peeta and Gale.
On a completely shallow note, I can’t see Josh and Liam as panty melting heartthrobs.

You never know what’s going to be a hit, but The Hunger Games was written better than Twilight (I am a Twilight fan), and the triangle in Hunger Games was much more illusive than Twilight…you knew Bella loved Edward more and there was never any threat to their relationship. In Hunger Games, Katniss is truly torn between the two characters, Gayle/Peeta…although my heart belonged to Peeta.

Alex Pettyfer was up for Peeta. I fell in love with Peeta in the books and NEVER pictured Josh as Peeta. Josh isn’t a bad actor just not a good Peeta NOT JOSH. I think with the casting of Jennifer,is bad, and Josh should be Gale or a carer tribute.
