Even though Gaga stars in her new video as Mary Magdalene envisioning a thorn-crowned Jesus, she’s not offending anyone — is she losing her touch?
Lady Gaga‘s music video “Judas” might not be as edgy as she thinks. HollywoodLife.com obtained a statement from the Catholic League’s President Bill Donohue, who says after watching the video, that Lady Gaga “dances on the line” but never actually crosses it.
Even the baptismal scene from the leaked video isn’t pushing the envelope, Bill says — it actually made Gaga look better in the Catholic League’s eyes: ”The faux-baptismal scene is a curious inclusion. As is her apparent fondness for the Jesus character.”
Here’s the entire statement:
“In her “Judas” video, Lady Gaga plays fast and loose with Catholic iconography, and generates several untoward statements, but she typically dances on the line without going over it. Perhaps that is because the video is a mess. Incoherent, it leaves the viewer more perplexed than moved. The faux-baptismal scene is a curious inclusion, as is her apparent fondness for the Jesus character. But if anyone thinks the Catholic League is going to go ballistic over Lady Gaga’s latest contribution, they haven’t a clue about what really constitutes anti-Catholicism.”
Are you shocked by the league’s reaction — or are Lady Gaga’s antics simply growing tiresome?

The Catholic league sound more like a bunch of grown men acting like children than anything. These silly old men are neither true catholics, not true Christians. They are true whiners though.

Donohue hit up Fox News to suggest that Gaga try targeting Muslims rather than Catholics. How Christian of you Bill Donahue? Lady Gaga grew up Catholic, its what she knows. Michelangelo used the Papacy to fund his exploration of the human body through his art?

when did she said she was trying to be controversial? i think is stupid to believe that that was her goal here, she even said it that the video has nothing controversial except for wearing two differente designers in the same frame, grow up people

She could have been SO much more controversial, and it was overhyped. I expected more. I’m disappointed, Gagz :(

Catholics should stop telling everyone else what to do and should stop raping children, stop lying about it, and stop ignoring the victims.
