Kris Humphries seems to have put down some major money for Kim’s ring, but could he really afford such a pricey bauble? Even sis Khloe only has an $850,000 ring from her superstar NBA boyfriend!
Kim Kardashian is living most girls’ dreams as she finds herself not only engaged to beau Kris Humphries, but also sporting an engagement ring that most would expect to see in a museum. Sources tell TMZ that the ring, designed by Lorraine Schwartz and featuring a 16.5 carat emerald cut center stone flanked by two 2-carat trapezoids, costs somewhere around $2 million. Not to ruin a happy moment, but does Kris have have that much money?
Kris is of course a well paid basketball player, earning $3.2 million this season, but after taxes and general living costs this is a far less sum. Even taking all the money he has made to date, roughly $17 million, would make purchasing this ring a huge, huge financial investment. Khloe Kardashian received a stunning ring from hubby Lamar Odom, a basketball player who is far better compensated than Kris, but that was less than half the cost of Kim’s at $850,000. So did Kim pay for her ring?
Kim would of course not pay out of pocket, but with a nice cover story and some no doubt lucrative television appearances on the way discussing her engagement, $2 million becomes a slightly more manageable sum. No doubt Kim’s powerhouse business manager, and mother, Kris Jenner would be able to score at leat the ring’s worth in appearances for her photo friendly daughter. And it is certainly nothing new, with both Jessica Simpson and Britney Spears having paid for their engagement rings.

Everyone seems to forget that the Jenners sold their former home in April 2011 for $2.8 million. HELLO! They took the $2 million out of what they earned from selling the house and paid for the ring on their own! I’m not accusing anyone, but I believe that maybe Kris Jenner gave the money to Kris Humphries, he bought the ring, and somehow they were able to pull it off without Kim finding out until he proposed. You see, it all makes sense now, doesn’t it?
