Celebrity nutrition expert and host, Lisa DeFazio, MS, RD , estimates Heidi weighed approximately 150 pounds in the photo from January 2010. Recent pictures of Heidi from June 2011 show her at an estimated 110-115 pounds — way too thin for her tall 5’10” frame!
The doctor explains it is common for busy moms to focus so much on the needs of their children, they forget to eat! Additionally, hormonal changes after pregnancy, which can cause anxiety and depression, can lead to poor dietary habits, skipping meals, and excessive exercise to destress.
We understand she’s a busy woman, but with Heidi’s chest bones protruding, she needs to make her health a priority! De Fazio recommends Heidi go to the doctor to get bloodwork to make sure she is not anemic, and to make sure her iron and thyroid levels are normal.
A second doctor, Dr. Vidushi Babber M.D. agrees with De Fazio, saying Heidi has lost “a drastic amount of weight” and looks like she has no muscle tone.
Comparing the earlier photo, Dr. Babber comments that “she looks healthier in the older picture and more emaciated in the current pic. She even looks happier in the older picture. If you look at her in the first photo she is facing the camera directly and she appears more confident, healthy and glowing and she knows it too! In the second picture, she is not as confident, she’s almost questioning if she looks okay.”
The dangers of being underweight are anemia, dehydration, malnutrition, muscle wasting, low blood sugars, low blood pressure, and in severe cases cardiac arrest…in other words, being too thin is no good!
Please gain some weight, Heidi! For the sake of yourself and your family, we don’t want you to get sick!
