As we previously reported, Penn Badgley will play Jeff Buckley in a movie, but there was initially confusion over which movie he was in because there are (surprisingly) two being made!
Just as there are two Snow Whites, there are apparently two Jeff Buckley movies in the works. HollywoodLife.com was the first to tell you Penn Badgley would be playing famed musician Jeff Buckley, and we were 100% right about that. What we did get wrong, and we fully admit this, was which Jeff Buckley film he would be starring in. There was miscommunication from our source and we thought Penn was in the Jake Scott-directed flick, but now we know he’s in a movie directed by Dan Algrant called Greetings from Tim Buckley.
The movie will center around the father-son musicians, following the days leading up to Jeff Buckley’s 1991 performance at his father’s tribute concert in St. Ann’s Church. Penn Badgley says, “To play a man who was singularly gifted as an artist, greatly misunderstood & mythologized as a human being… It’s something very special and sacred. I’m going to give all I can to this project.”
Patrick Milling Smith of Smuggler Films reveals, “In its purest form this is a father and son story, a rite of passage that is made possible by a romantic journey Jeff finds himself on. We see Jeff accepting who he is to become and laying to rest the ghost of his father while ultimately finding his voice. We had been searching well over a year for an actor that can come close to Jeff’s spirit while also having the serious musical chops required to authentically tell this story.”
The movie starts shooting this August in NYC.
We have reached out to our source about his tip that Robert Pattinson auditioned for this role and was devastated to lose it. We want to make sure this was not just confusion about the other Jeff Buckley movie, which has yet to start casting at all.

there are two movies hope and pray rob gets none of them he can not sing nor act jb fans will not be happy if rob gets the part there are so many better actors that will do a great job anyone but rob leave him to the bottle robs next role should be a drunk hes got that down he would get a oscar for that lol

This only bolsters your case for the Kristen Stewart and Garrett Hedlund sightings and hookups. The You-make-things-up crowd was grasping at this to discredit you. You obviously got the Penn Badgley casting right, but I think they fed you Pattinson’s name for recognition of the movie. Back to Kristen and Garrett-they are hooking up in LA while Rob films up in Toronto. They are attending a Chris Weitz premiere tonight together. More to the story. She hasn’t been seen with Rob in a long time. Hmmm… You Robstens need to admit Kristen is an in your face cheater. She’s either ended it, which would be to her credit, or she’s a cheater. But she’s certainly going all out with Garrett!

Kristen and Garrett are being seen together to promote On the Road. He’s dating Leighton Meister.They’re just good friends and nothing else. Her and Rob have always been very friendly with their co stars. Everyone is reading into this way more than they should. Rob’s busy filming and Kristen’s busy getting ready for Snow White and I heard K-11 will finally start shooting next month in LA. Kristen’s probably busy with her mom getting ready. Rob finishes shooting Cosmopolis next month so I have no doubt they’ll be Robsten sightings again soon.
