Selena Gomez says she dated someone for a year who didn’t let her be herself and all her friends and family hated!
Selena Gomez normally stays very mum about her relationships, but the 19-year-old former Disney darling recently opened up about a boyfriend previous to Justin Bieber who didn’t treat her well at all. We hope it wasn’t either Taylor Lautner or Nick Jonas!
“I wasn’t myself for a year. I think that was really damaging. I felt like it was me who was always trying to be perfect for him,” Selena told Top of the Pops Magazine. “I always dressed nice. I don’t think he ever saw me in sweatpants — and I love sweatpants.”
She added, “I dare someone to try and change me again.”
Selena has had a slew of A-list boyfriends, including Taylor Lautner in 2009, when he was shooting New Moon and she was working on Ramona and Beezus, and Nick Jonas in 2008 and again in 2010.
The triple threat performer, who is currently on tour with her band, The Scene, shared some more about her mystery relationship, saying, “I’d always be well-mannered and go to his favourite restaurants or whatever. There was a point where I lost myself completely. I didn’t smile as much, I didn’t laugh as much. I wasn’t a goofball. I didn’t get up and dance like I usually do.”
Selena admits she changed herself for her old guy, but got back to normal shortly after they broke up. “And when that one ended, I didn’t know where I was,” she said. “But I got it back and was really happy. My family were happy to have me back.”
After watching Selena with Justin Bieber throughout the last several months, it’s obvious she loves to let loose and have a good time. The couple openly frolics on the beach, dines at low key restaurants and is always laughing and smiling. It’s nice to know Selena feels like she can finally be herself and doesn’t have to change for a guy!

They might get married but they are too young and even when they grow up I don’t think it will work out. I adore them both sooooo much but Justin has girls throwing themselves at him left right and centre and I think he might end up cheating on Sel. She said ALL of her friends hated her “bad” boyfriend, so it couldn’t be Nick, because two of Selena’s friends Miley and Demi (Yearh i know Demi is her best friend) and Miley and Nick are great friends, and Demi and Nick are best friends.

well heres my opionon i dont think any guy should change you, if ur famous or not .your ur own person and your the only one in control of you and your bondy and what you would want to do with it. I think it’s not up to us to decide if they should be together or not, that’s their own business. We shouldn’t judge, we don’t have the right to do so.
It’s easy to change for someone, hide yourself, so I can’t judge the one who made her change either. She chose to do so, even if I don’t believe it was her meaning. I don’t think one should blaime anyone for that…

Anyone who is slating her is an idiot. This isn’t about how pretty she is/is not and it makes you sound ridiculously jealous.

No, but the thing is it sounds like she’s putting the blame on her ex, which is pretty obvious that it’s Nick.
She keeps on parading this sob-story, but the thing is- SHE became whom SHE THOUGHT that her ex wanted. Not she became what her ex wanted. What she THOUGHT her ex wanted. Nick wasn’t a “controlling boyfriend” and certainly didn’t “treat her bad”, it was all Selena.
