While other singers portray an unrealistic view of young women, I’m glad Miley keeps it real with her fans!
Miley Cyrus is often attacked for her racy onstage costumes, but after she came clean in a new interview, I’m totally convinced she’s one of the most honest celebs around!
Miley, 18, shocked many with her recent interview in Prestige magazine, but I think she has a mature and honest stance.
“Every 18-year-old explores sexuality and experiments and tries things,” she says. “For me there’s no reason to change that. You have to be true to yourself.”
She also said her wild-child image is inaccurate, as she lives a stable life working and hanging out with Liam Hemsworth.
“I stay in the house pretty much every day,” she said. “I don’t go out. I’ve had same boyfriend for two years.”
I agree with Miley 100% and respect her more than pop tarts such as Selena Gomez, 19, or Taylor Swift, 21. After all, they are obsessed with fluff lyrics and presenting an infantilized version of women which is not realistic. Life for Taylor and Selena may be all lollipops and rainbows, but Miley is much more inspirational to fans who understand that life is filled with hard choices and experimentation. Miley may not be perfect, but who is?

Yes Selena does appear fake even tho sum ppl may not be comfortable with Miley’s comments and things she’s dun she dust care and u no wat she’s no different to any other teenager thes days sum are far worse respect to her tbh I’m not a fan but always appreciate honesty!!!

I’m 90% agree with this article. I think Taylor as a country singer is genuine and don’t see her trying to be that way. I like her but with Selena i thing it’s just a fake i dunno why.
In selling records Taylor and Miley are the best in her field: the outspoken sexy pop star and the girl next door country star.

Taylor and Selena are much more popular right now and still selling millions of albums so must be doing something right :) they also come across alot more genuine to there fans….its not a crime to not be slutty they just want there music to speak for itself

well taylor is selling millions of album but selena is not none of her albums went platium so she is not selling millions of records plus miley had sold more albums then her even when can’t be tamed didn’t sell as much as her other albums but i think 2012 is going to be a big year for miley she has 3 movies coming out and her 4th album

true taylor swift sells millions. but selena doesnt she hasnt even had a top 20 hit like miley, demi and taylor. all of mileys albums have went platnium meaning they sold over a million records, she had one of the biggest singles of the decade with party in the usa and she is the most charted teenager in history and she has done that in 4 years, this is selena 2nd year and she still hasnt even came close to where miley was in the first two year of her career. miley is the princess of pop right now something selena isnt no matter how much publicity she gets or how much millions of fans she has miley will always out shine her miley is the best.

I completely disagree. Being 18 myself, I think Miley is just a crazy teen. Taylor Swift’s lyrics can relate to pretty much every teenage girl and she speaks straight from her heart. She shows you don’t have to be a party girl like Miley as a teenager. Miley is just shallow and wild. And I completely disagree. Not every 18 year old needs to “explore her sexuality” Taylor and Selena are much more down to earth and typical teens

Uh, NO, Miley, every teenager does not do that crap. Just the fact that you can say that without a second thought makes it obvious that, in terms of maturity, you are far below Taylor Swift’s league.
And fellow readers, note that this opinionated article was written by a MAN. OF COURSE he thinks Miley’s behavior is ‘mature’ and ‘honest’. To him, she’s just another young girl who makes him hard every time she whores herself out. So obviously, to a man like him, decent girls like Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez are not ‘up to par’.
Finally, if anyone is wondering, I am actually a young man. No, I am not Conservative. And despite my harsh criticism of her, I still like her, not only for the obvious reasons, but also b/c I do think she is a good singer with potential for greatness. And I always thought she is beautiful/attractive/hot, and does NOT need to whore herself out. Sure, once she is a fully mature young woman, I certainly would not object to her doing a formal bikini shoot with Maxim or whoever. But right now, the way she carries herself is nothing more than stupid behavior.

I don’t think everything Miley does is right but I have to give her credit here. She really shouldn’t be called things like “slutty” or “good girl gone bad” since her actions are still quite normal for a teenager. All we have on her “bad” image is one supposed pole dance which was actually nothing if you saw the real video and we have the salvia thing. She was 18 at the time which is when most kids go to college and might experiment. Other than that, we do see her with family or Liam most of the time. Plus Selena wears some revealing outfits in her performances also and has a lot more PDA with Justin Bieber than Miley has ever shown. Selena is a growing star in her own right and shouldn’t be judged.

So “miley is much more inspirational” because she admits that shes not the “ideal” role model by letting down 9 year olds and showing kids that its okay to go around half naked? will thats bs.The FACT that she still has child fans should make her think more.She is the one that signed with Disney Channel, so she should KNOW the responsibility she has to take on. She shouldn’t be shocked that she has young fans and that she SHOULD be a good role model…look at it this way, the fans made her rich, so all they ask in return is just to show her talent and to not let them down. Simple. She is trying to grow up too fast. thats understandable because i’m also 18, but you should do it at a steady pace. for example, hilary duff, then she was a disney princess, now she does more adult roles. And nobody is talking crap about her, do you know why? because she is doing it the SMART and the RIGHT way. although i’m not in the business, it’s a NO brainer that to work in the industry you have to be smart and learn how to shift from different audiences respectfully. I don’t hate her, i just think she could have done things a little smarter. I just don’t like seeing my little sisters always confused and sad about what she’s doing. she has to know its affecting people MORE important then she is….the YOUTH.

She’s a terrible role model for young kids today. Honesty is grand, but when it’s honesty about private matters such as sexuality and showing less than appropriate pictures of yourself (when she was under 18) it’s called being uncouth. She needs to grow up a little bit, once she does I guarantee she will look back at her actions she made as a teenager and cringe, I know I would.

totally unfair to compare the two. that’s YOUR perception that selena and taylor perpetuate an “infantilized” version of women, but the thing is, that’s only because you feel that miley is more “real” and “normal”. Those are extremely grey areas…….like another poster mentioned, Taylor doesn’t TRY to be a goodie goodie. She is just the way she is because she is being herself..isn’t that commendable? Being conservative is NOT a crime. I’m probably less conservative than Taylor, but we’re still pretty similar in many ways. I rarely ever drink…I can count on one hand how many times I’ve had a drink. I don’t go to parties every other weekend, I’m not comfortable dressing how Miley does, and I keep my personal stuff to myself b/c it’s private…if Miley feels comfy talking about her sexuality to the media, more power to her. But to each his own…it’s not a crime to be more conservative

Woah…Taylor and Miley are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. You cannot compare them. They are both good role models in their own way. Taylor does not try to be a goodie goodie, she like myself is just not interested in a wild life. She has no interest in looking sexy she prefers being cute. Miley is comfortable in her sexy look. Also Taylor does not fake it, she does not only write songs about rainbows…her songs have taken on serious times and special moments in life.

if you have kids or grandkids whose behaviours are squeaky clean you should be worried because those are the ones with the worst behaviours of all. It is perfectly normal for a teenger to experiment. The average age for losing virginity is now 14. I’m not saying it is right but it is a truth we have to accept. At least she is being open about it. Give her a break.

That is not true at all. Yes no one is squeaky clean but no one has to take it as far as Miley and go around half naked. I honestly am a teen and I haven”t experimented like Miley. Are you saying I have a horrible behavior? and not everyone loses their virginity that young. The truth is she just wants sympathy and is upset that new people like Taylor and Selena are outshining her by being true role models
