We Think Jane Lynch Was The Perfect Emmys Host! Do You Agree? Vote!

Jane kept the show fun, even in its slower moments. I hope Anne Hathaway and James Franco were watching.

The role of an awards show host is two-fold: Keep the audience entertained, and keep the show moving. Jane Lynch more than met those requirements during the 2011 Primetime Emmy Awards, injecting her own brand of safe-but-biting humor that was just Sue Sylvester enough — without being too Sue Sylvester.

As a casual fan of Glee, I was worried Jane would rely too heavily on her singing, dancing castmates for support. After all, she did tell TVLine last month that she had “pitched a couple of ideas for the Glee cast [to be involved].”

But aside from a brief visit to McKinley High during the show’s big (read: very big) opening number, there was hardly a Gleek in sight.

She also wasn’t afraid to confront her critics. After addressing the fact that most people expected her gig to carry a “gay agenda,” she said, “…and there was another thing, but I must have left it in my fanny pack.”

And if there was any doubt as to how awesome Jane was, her dig at the guys of Entourage officially won me over:

“A lot of people are curious why I’m a lesbian,” Jane began. “Ladies and gentlemen, the cast of Entourage.”

I’m not a glee fan and didn’t really know what to think of Jane Lynch as host of the show. I was pleasantly surprised. I thought Jane Lynch did an amazing job – best one yet!
