Are you glad Mercedes isn’t with child, or would you like to see her try to fill Quinn’s teen mom shoes?

When Glee fans began to speculate that Mercedes (Amber Riley) was pregnant — she was puking and complaining of stomach pains on this week’s episode — Amber decided to tweet the record straight: “Mercedes is NOT pregnant,” she announced Oct. 4. At first I was disappointed, because I really thought that could be an interesting direction for Mercedes, but after reflecting on the possibility over a plate of tots, I’m actually kind of relieved. That girl would have made a terrible mother!

Her questionable dietary habits aside — that girl would have fed her baby Quiznos for every meal, and you know it — Mercedes is one of the most selfish, not to mention irrational, characters on Glee.

I’m not a Mercedes hater — just a hater of the outrageous new attitude she seems to have picked up over summer vacation. I’m glad her new boyfriend (LaMarcus Tinker) is trying to instill confidence in her, but there’s a difference between confidence and arrogance.
