Robert Pattinson: Edward Cullen Is Too Controlling In ‘Twilight!’
Robert Pattinson says he’s nothing like Edward Cullen in real life because he’s ‘lighthearted,’ unlike his ‘Breaking Dawn’ character! Watch this video!
One thing Twi-hards love about Edward Cullen is his steadfast love for Bella Swan. However, actor Robert Pattinson thinks his character is too possessive over the love of his life and said he’d never be that way with Kristen Stewart!
“Girls often say that Edward’s ‘sooo perfect,’ but he’s not,” Rob, 25, told the press during a Breaking Dawn Q-and-A in Brussels, Belgium Oct. 26. “I do not like people who try to exert control in a relationship, when there is an imbalance. This is very wrong and very strange. Fortunately, he finally gives up and he tries not to boss Bella around.”
The easy going British actor went on to explain what makes him different from his head strong character.
“I can not say that I am similar to Edward,” Rob said. “From the beginning, the relationship between Edward and Bella is complicated; there is always danger against which they must fight. He thinks far too much, which doesn’t really make him lighthearted. That’s not how I am at all!”
We have to admit we’re slightly enchanted with how dedicated Edward is when it comes to Bella. However, Rob does have a point — he’s an incredibly serious character! Do YOU think Edward is too controlling?

Twilight he was somewhat controlling. The only weird thing he did was watch her sleep, with is actually kind of romantic.
New Moon he wasn’t controlling but inconsiderate. In a relationship, you make choices together. He just left, knowing what it would do to her. Though it was for her safety, Bella has a right to her own decisions.
Eclipse he was indeed controlling. I don’t know if it was the sudden worry of Jacob stealing Bella, or if he just became more posessive. Bella should be allowed to see her friends, she knows the risks.
