Demi makes it clear that Ashton’s affair is the reason she’s filing for divorce after six years of marriage.
Demi Moore is moving on with her life. The 49-year-old actress said in a statement on Nov. 17 that she is divorcing Ashton Kutcher.
“It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton,” Demi said. “As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life. This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation.”
Ashton echoed his estranged wife’s sentiments on Twitter. “I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail [sic].”
This announcement comes after weeks of speculation as to whether Demi would leave Ashton after he allegedly cheated on her with 22-year-old Sara Leal.
A month ago, Sara opened up about her encounter with the actor that reportedly occurred on Sept. 23 — the eve Ashton and Demi’s wedding anniversary.
“He was good. It wasn’t weird or perverted,” Sara tells Us Weekly, adding that Ashton didn’t wear a condom throughout the course of their wild night.
According to Sara, she partied with Ashton in his Hard Rock Hotel suite late into the night. “He just came up and kissed me,” she claims, adding that Ashton told her he was “separated” from his wife.
After news of the affair broke, Ashton and Demi retreated to Cachuma Lake in California to work on their marriage. They even went to Kabbalah counseling together. The pair also reportedly spent last weekend in Turks and Caicos to salvage their relationship. But it wasn’t enough.
Sara wasn’t the first girl who claimed to have hooked up with Ashton. Back in 2010, a then 21-year-old Brittney Jones said she hooked up with Ashton at the house he shared with Demi — while the actress was off on location filming. At the time, however, Ashton immediately denied the accusations and he and Demi stood united against the rumor, something they didn’t do after Sara’s accusations.

Um…thought Demi was “smarter than that” when she first married him. He seems like he is…to say it nicely…not that bright. Get on with your lives…kinda sad that people think a lovely 40 something year old woman is old. Youth is wasted on the young.

i don’t like her, and never respected her either- but on this decision, i respect her. i don’t think all people should jump ship on cheating spouses, but as the mom of three young girls (none of whom are his)- she’s setting a strong example to them that they shouldn’t settle for an unfaithful man. i mean, if he’s doing this 6 years in when demi looks this good, what’s he going to do in a decade. that’s not really a guy you want at your side to enter your elder years with. in any case, good luck to her in healing from this and finding someone she wants to spend the rest of her life with (even if it’s just herself and everybody she has now, and not a new “partner”).

This is very sad. I’m sorry to hear this. They both seem like decent people. It is such a shame that their marriage has collapsed. Marriage, in my experience, takes work. A lot of work.
My husband and I are just really open and honest with each other, and we’re just really there for each other.
I think my husband taught me a lot about inner beauty and confidence in myself. I’m slim but voluptuous. I’ve got curves and a large bust but it seemed that men were more interested in my chest than my personality. My exes seemed obsessed with my cleavage.
