Poor Lauren. Despite walking, talking and eating, sadly doctors were unable to save Lauren’s left eye during surgery on Dec. 14 . Nevertheless her family is remaining upbeat but asking for support and prayers!

Lauren Scruggs has made remarkable strides since almost dying after walking into the moving propellor of a plane and having her left hand sliced off on Dec.7. But unfortunately Lauren has now lost her left eye. Her family took to their blog CaringBridge.org, where they post updates on Lauren’s recovery, and on the evening of Dec. 14 they announced that despite their hopes, doctors were unable to save her eye in surgery last night.

“We are thankful for all of the strong and powerful prayers for this and the surgery today.” the family wrote. ” The surgery consisted of removing her left eye, which included nerves. The doctors were excited about the surgery and said everything went as planned and unbelievably well.”

Lauren’s left hand had to be amputated after it was slashed so badly by the plane’s propellor blades.  Her face and head were also slashed badly and she suffered a skull fracture.  The Scruggs family has remained upbeat but says Lauren is in a great deal of pain. The former Gossip Girl stylist and fashion blogger had to be taken off of her pain medication in order to undergo her eye surgery.

“We are asking again for prayer to relieve this pain, and also, as we have posted previously, pray for Lo to regain her appetite,” her family wrote. “This is crucial for her body to heal quickly.”
