Despite being in the midst of an emotional split, Katy isn’t going to avoid the spotlight.
Katy Perry is one strong woman! The 27-year-old singer is up for seven awards at the People’s Choice Awards in LA next week and she will attend the ceremony — good for her!
In a press release from CBS on Jan. 4, it was announced that Katy will attend the ceremony alongside stars like Ashley Greene, Nina Dobrev and Vanessa Hudgens. Katy is nominated for Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Pop Artist and Song of the Year for “E.T.”
Russell Brand filed for divorce on Dec. 30 while Katy was vacationing in Hawaii with friends. A source tells HollywoodLife.com that Katy is “devastated” and did not want to end the marriage. But the source added that Katy and Russell will “not get back together.”
Although Russell released a statement about the split, Katy has remained mum. Katy leaves later this month for a Jan. 19 show in Jakarta, Indonesia and another performance on Jan. 22 in the Philippines.

After watching some interviews, Katy does seem like a tough lady behind the girly looking costumes she wears on tour. I bet she’s doing alright after the divorce papers got filed.
Katy’s definitely a very social, extroverted kind of woman. She’s a lightning bolt of sexy, fun energy. She reminds me of Jim Carrey’s ex-wife Jenny McCarthy. If her next boyfriend or husband is up for the challenge, I bet he’ll be a very lucky guy.
Anyway, I hope Katy wins a big boxful of awards at the People’s Choice as well as a few Grammys. She should at least win the “Favorite Pop Artist” award and maybe “Favorite Female Artist” because it looks like she has some talent for acting as well. I could visualize her in comedy movies for sure. This girl is overflowing with talent and possibilities.
I think her Teenage Dream CD is really good. She’s a hitmaker. Her latest single “The One That Got Away” is particularly good. She should do a few songs like that on her next album. I bet her next album will be a smash hit too. I hope she’s working hard on writing her songs with her producers like Dr. Luke and the rest of her band.
