If Amber Portwood is able to go through an entire court-mandated rehab program, she won’t have to serve five years in prison. Do you think she’ll be able to do it?

Teen Mom‘s Amber Portwood isn’t exactly known for her amazing track record. However, the court is giving her another shot to stay out of the pen, reports TMZ.

The reality TV star struck a plea deal that locks her up in prison for a whopping five years following being arrested last month. However, there’s a way out of that…

First, she had to plead guilty to one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of probation violation.

“[Also], according to the deal, law enforcement sources tell TMZ, Amber can stay out of the big house … provided she completes a court-mandated drug rehabilitation program,” the story says.

The rehab would be through the Madison Drug Court program, but if she doesn’t make it or screws up for any reason, she’ll have to serve her five years in prison. The judge will decide whether or not to approve the deal during her next hearing Feb. 6.

She deserves to go to prison. Sometimes its the only thing that helps people “change.” She has had so many chances, and knows the consequences of her actions. She beats on Gary, then starts fights with strangers? Pathetic.

I think amber will stay out off prison because she has realised she has poor little leah to think about and I think if amber got back with leahs dad she would be looking at disaster amber is better off without him and concentrate on lil leah and herself x

As a former treatment provider, I can tell you that she will walk a very fine line. The women’s program at the agency I worked for was a year in length…I hope her program is at least a year. Changing maladaptive addictive behaviors takes time and, most importantly, a desire to do so. Many people court appointed to treatment don’t do well. The fear of going to jail fades pretty quickly and happens prior to any sustainable changes.
