Since being released from the hospital after walking into an airplane propeller, Lauren Scruggs’s recovery has not been an easy one
Even though it’s been two months since Lauren Scruggs walked into a plane propeller and lost her arm and eye, this last week was the most difficult for the 23-year-old model so far, her mom writes on her blog.
“We chalked up this past week as one of the toughest yet,” Cheryl says. “You would think that things would be on the upswing, huh? They are in some ways. She is progressing well, physically, but we have now entered into working through the 5 stages of grief. We have experienced a little of this along this journey, but we now face it head on. Hard? um excruciating”
She adds, “It’s healthy, yes. It’s necessary, yes. But it’s brutal.”
Lauren was on a joy ride on a tiny plane in Texas, when she exited the plane and accidentally walked into the whirling propeller. She was released from the hospital a little more than a week ago.
“I feel like such a debbie-downer; not being my upbeat, positive self, And I find it hard to write and put on paper what we are really experiencing, Have two months really gone by? Did Christmas really come and go? Is it really 2012?” Cheryl asks.
“Hard to believe it’s been 2 months since it all happened; sometimes it feels like a day; sometimes it feels like 5 years.”

Next time, she should try with a jet engine.

This is the second news article I have come across which erroneously states Lauren Scruggs lost her left “arm.” There is a huge difference between a hand and an arm. Lauren unfortunately lost her left hand, NOT her left arm. Please edit your work and report accurate information!

@Kristopher: I don’t know the total amount of donations. I think it’s a good question, though. Especially since the Scruggs were anti-health care reform just last year. I guess hand-outs are okay, though, in their mind. The mother seems a bit out there, not quite genuine. I hope their intentions are to use all the money given to help Lauren.

The present-in-every-picture, mother, sounds like a crazy Christian version of Looney Tunes. It’s fine to have faith, but no one needs to hear about it every other sentence. I’ve also read that they’re quite wealthy. So why the need for donations? They should take care of their own daughter, and stop asking for handouts – it’s humiliating.

So many trolls on this site tonight. Nice attitudes from both of you.

No matter what- this girl deserves respect. Dealing with something like that and keeping your head up takes tons of mental toughness! I hope she stays strong and positive and gets well soon.

I’m still trying to understand how anyone walks anywhere near the front end of a plane with the engine still on and propellars still spinning. Was Lauren drunk?

Little “Lo,” was probably wrapped up in her own stupid, self-centered world. She gives new meaning to the term “dumb blonde.”

What a cruel, and very stupid remark from ^^ “TH”……
It’s very easy to horrible things from the safe “anonymity” sitting behind your computer screen and without adding your own, real name, isn’t it? I bet your mother’d be sooo proud, you’ve turned out sooo well. Loser. Say something nice or stay away, didn’t your mother teach you anything?

I agree with TH. It was her own damn fault. She doesn’t deserve sympathy for being stupid.

EVERYONE does something stupid now and then. Are you people PERFECT? By your comments, you show that you’re even less perfect than most. Hateful, ignorant, heartless and rude. If you can judge Lauren for her imperfect status as a human, you’d better be prepared to take some crap yourselves, because you people are STUPID for posting such ignorant, crude remarks. I hope… Yes, I HOPE something like this happens to YOU and I hope you get ZERO sympathy. What comes around goes around, after all. LOSERS.

Are you on drugs to be so heartless and cruel? Jeez. Is no one allowed to do something without thinking? Clearly you POSTED without thinking. Moron.

“Lighten up, Francis.” Most of us will be in accidents, however, few will follow in her foolish footsteps. Would YOU walk in front of a moving propeller “without thinking?” She was also warned by the professional pilot, to avoid the plane’s propeller. As Sally said: “Stupid is as stupid does.”

Remi, too bad you have no idea what empathy is. Grow up.
