Bio:
Gen. H. Norman Schwarzkopf (born Herbert Norman Schwarzkopf in Trenton, New Jersey on August 22, 1934) is a retired United States Army general. He began his career in the military in 1956 after graduating from West Point. In 1988, he was promoted to General and appointed to Commander-in-Chief of the U.S Central Command. He led Operation Desert Storm during the Gulf War in 1991, which was widely credited for bringing the ground war to an end within just four days. He was very visible during the war, earning himself the nickname “Stormin’ Norman”. He retired from active service shortly after the war. Gen. Schwarzkopf passed away on Dec. 27, 2012 in Tampa, FL.
Best Known For:
Leading Operation Desert Storm in 1991 during the first Gulf War as the Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Central Command.
Personal Life:
Gen. Schwarzkopf married Brenda Holsinger in 1968. The couple have three children.
