‘The Witcher’s Freya Allan & Anya Chalotra — Freya Allan and Anya Chalotra of ‘The Witcher’ stopped by HollywoodLife’s New York City studio for exclusive portraits. They star as Ciri and Yennefer in the highly-anticipated Netflix series along with Henry Cavill. The characters were created by Andrzej Sapkowski, who wrote ‘The Witcher’ book series. The book series also spawned a popular video game. The show follows Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, who struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, Yennefer, and a young princess named Ciri with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together. The series has already been renewed for season 2 ahead of the first season’s release. All 8 episodes of the first season will be available on Dec. 20. Anya Chalotra On Yennefer In Season 1 — Anya revealed that season 1 will explore a lot more of Yennefer’s backstory. ‘We learn why she presents such a cold exterior because of the traumatic experiences she’s had as a child, and we go through her transformation into the Yennefer we know from the books,’ she told HL.

Freya Allan On Ciri’s Journey — Ciri has quite the evolution in season 1. ‘Ciri starts off as very naive to the real world,’ Freya said. ‘She’s always been surrounded by people who’ve also been kind of molded within that environment, and she’s had such a curiosity that’s almost made everyone around her more fearful of telling her anything. She’s just been totally kept away from the reality of the world and then suddenly she’s thrown into this brutal world and she loses everybody she loves.’
